About DICOM

The Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) Standard is a detailed specification that describes the means of formatting and exchanging medical images and associated information.

The DICOM Standard endorsed by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) is the result of joint efforts of users and manufacturers of medical imaging and healthcare information technology.

The DICOM Conformance Statements specify the details about the implementation of the DICOM standard for specific products.
