Siemens Healthcare (www.siemens.com/diagnostics) announced the signing of an agreement today with Hospital Clinic in Barcelona, Spain, to integrate the use of laboratory diagnostics, imaging and information technology systems with the intent to improve management of patient care from early detection and diagnosis of diseases or conditions to patient treatment. Under the agreement, Siemens and the Hospital Clinic will initially focus on three specific areas: liver fibrosis, fetal medicine and colon cancer. More

Siemens Healthcare and the Asklepios Hospitals will continue to deepen their cooperation in the information technology (IT) sector. The hospital information system i.s.h.med, installed to date in eight major hospitals of the Asklepios hospital chain, will be expanded by adding elements that further enhance its performance, including a modern user interface with intuitive handling, service-oriented architecture, and a clinical process-management system. The companies will seal their cooperation by signing an agreement within the "Asklepios Future Hospital (AFH)" program today at the Medica in Duesseldorf. More

During the ongoing “10.000er-Tests” for the electronic health card in Germany, more than 80 percent of all participating hospitals, doctors' offices and pharmacies in the test regions are using the CardOS HealthCare Connector from Siemens Healthcare. The connector provides the link between the IT infrastructure of healthcare service providers and the nationwide central telematic infrastructure. Siemens was the first manufacturer to submit its new connector hardware to the Gesellschaft für Telematikanwendungen der Gesundheitskarte mbH (gematik) in mid-March, where it was successfully tested for use with the online insurance master data service. Thus, Siemens currently claims a top market position in Germany for connectors for the electronic health card – also from a technological point of view. More

At the ECR (European Congress of Radiology) in Vienna, Austria, Siemens Healthcare is presenting a whole array of IT services for radiology and its communication within hospitals and with physicians' practices. The new role-based portals syngo Portal Radiologist, syngo Portal Referring Physician and syngo Portal Executive (the latter still in development), support radiologists and hospital personnel with intelligent access to and management of patient images, data or reports. All portals contribute at various levels not only to optimization of workflows, but also provide users with innovative applications relevant to the context of their task.
